Document reading and data extraction
Pull fields from resumes, invoices, contracts and forms into your database.
AI document processing →GPT models in your .NET, web and business apps, running in Microsoft Azure with your data under your control.
Azure OpenAI gives you OpenAI's GPT models through Microsoft Azure, with Azure's security, compliance and regional hosting. For a company already on Microsoft 365 or Azure, it's usually the simplest way to use generative AI with business data: it sits inside an Azure subscription, uses Microsoft Entra ID for access, and Microsoft states that your prompts and outputs aren't used to train the models.
SharpQuest builds Azure OpenAI into the applications you already run. We're a Microsoft-stack software company (.NET, Azure, SQL Server) in Michigan, a member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, and we use Azure OpenAI in our own software: our careers page reads an uploaded resume and fills in the job application.
Six features we build most, each inside the application your team already uses.
Pull fields from resumes, invoices, contracts and forms into your database.
AI document processing →Long reports, contracts, case notes or support threads summarized for the person who has to act on them.
An assistant that answers from your policies, manuals and past tickets, with links to the source, using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) on Azure AI Search.
First drafts of emails, product descriptions, proposals and replies, from your templates and data, for a person to review.
Sort incoming emails, tickets or orders by type and urgency and send them to the right queue.
Ask "Which customers ordered less this quarter than last?" and get the answer from your database, within the user's permissions.
AI for your ERP →The question buyers ask most.
| Item | Azure OpenAI | OpenAI API |
|---|---|---|
| Billing and contract | Your Azure subscription and Microsoft agreement | Separate OpenAI account |
| Where it runs | Azure region you choose | OpenAI's infrastructure |
| Sign-in and access | Microsoft Entra ID, Azure role-based access | API keys per OpenAI organization |
| Network | Private endpoints and virtual networks available | Public internet |
| Training on your data | Not used to train models | Not used by default for API data (per OpenAI) |
| Compliance | Covered by Azure's compliance offerings, including Microsoft's HIPAA BAA | OpenAI's own terms |
| New models | Usually arrive after OpenAI's release | First |
Pick the use case, the model and the cost per request that make sense.
The Azure OpenAI resource, Key Vault for keys and secrets, AI Search for your documents, and Entra ID access, in your subscription or ours. In yours, your IT team keeps networking (virtual networks, private endpoints, firewalls); we set up and maintain the AI resources.
Index your documents with Azure AI Search so answers come from your content, with citations.
Build the feature into your .NET, web or mobile application, or into Dynamics 365 Sales, with the prompts, validation and error handling a production feature needs.
Log prompts and results for audit; route low-confidence results to a person.
Token budgets, caching and model choice to keep the Azure bill predictable; alerts when quality or cost drifts.
Your use case, your data, your systems.
On your real data; you see the answers and the cost per request.
Into your application, depending on scope.
Against real cases; set the review thresholds.
Monitor and tune under a support plan; we move you to newer model versions before Microsoft retires the old ones.
The Azure OpenAI we run on our own site, and four demos anyone can try.
On our careers page, a candidate uploads a resume and Azure OpenAI reads it and fills in the job application: name, contact details, skills and experience. It runs in production on this site.

Sr. Manager - IT, SanDisk (Western Digital Company)
The SharpQuest team built an easy-to-use application that is well integrated with our existing ERP/data warehouse. It was well received by the business users due to its user-friendly UI, accuracy of data, and responsiveness.
IT Manager, TKS Industrial Company
When I first began working with SharpQuest, I was really out of my lane. The team has always assisted with providing clear guidance on the projects we have worked together on. We have really updated the use of the sql database, and it continues to evolve. They are very much in tune with what we ask, and can usually create this to work exactly the way we ask. It's a pretty high quality tracking space.
Connecting Azure OpenAI (OpenAI's GPT models hosted by Microsoft Azure) to your own applications and data, so features like summaries, document extraction or question answering work inside the software your team already uses.
No. Microsoft states that your prompts, outputs and data in Azure OpenAI aren't used to train the models, aren't available to OpenAI or other customers, and stay in Microsoft's Azure environment. If Microsoft's abuse monitoring flags a request, it may be stored for review by authorized Microsoft staff; eligible customers can apply to turn that storage off.
ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat app for people. Azure OpenAI is a service developers use to build GPT models into other software, under your Azure account and controls.
Two parts: Azure usage, which Microsoft bills per token (roughly, per word processed) and depends on the model and volume; and the development work to build and integrate the feature. We estimate the monthly Azure cost during the pilot, from your real usage.
Yes. Microsoft provides .NET SDKs for Azure OpenAI, and most of our work is on .NET. It can also be called from any language through its REST API.
Yes, using retrieval-augmented generation: your documents are indexed with Azure AI Search, and the model answers from the matching passages, with links back to them.
No. We can run it in your subscription or in ours. In yours, you own the data and the billing; your IT team keeps control of networking and we manage the AI resources (Azure OpenAI, Key Vault, AI Search).
Yes. We also build with OpenAI's API and Google Gemini, and you can link your own account. Azure OpenAI is our default when there's no preference.
We ground answers in your data, limit the model to the task, test against real examples during the pilot, and send low-confidence results to a person to check.
Azure OpenAI model versions have retirement dates. Under any of our support plans (Essential, Professional or Premium), we track them, and test and move your application to the newer version before the old one is switched off, as part of maintenance updates within the plan's monthly hours.
